9/20/22 – This is a nice example of a 1938 Mauser K98 with a rare “S/243” Mauser factory code. This one is mismatched, but several of the parts have been electro pencil-numbered to match the receiver. This is a “Russian capture”, as evidenced by the “Russian X” on the receiver and dark “Russian dipped” finish throughout. It has the proper military inspection proofs throughout. Import mark on the underside of the barrel. The stock is numbered on the left side, but the numbering is illegible. Military proofs on the right side of the butt stock. Overall, there is very little actual finish loss on the gun, except for on the front barrel band. There are areas of pin-pricking under the finish on the receiver. The stock is excellent but has been sanded. Comes with cleaning rod and rubber muzzle cap. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
