12/2/20 – This is a scarce Luger variation that was produced by the Vickers Ltd. Company in England for the Netherlands. These were produced in the 1915-17 timeframe when hostilities broke out between the Germans and Dutch. There were approximately 10,000 made however they are very rare today as they saw considerable use in the Far East and most you see are in terrible condition. Almost all were arsenal refurbished during the 1925-1933 time frame, and that does not detract from the value of these rare pistols. The pistol has a blank chamber area with the front toggle link stamped “VICKERS/LTD” in two lines. The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the “Crown/W” Dutch Wilhelmina proof and both sides of the extractor are marked: “GELADEN” with the safety area marked “RUST”. A brass plate was correctly soldered to the left side of the frame that has been stamped “1-II Sum. W. 10”. If anyone can tell us the meaning of this marking, let us know. This is a 1906 model so grip safety in the frame and no stock lug. Most of the finish loss is on the trigger guard, otherwise in excellent shape. Magazine has blank wood bottom. The grips are original and matching to the pistol with the full four digit serial number inside. Bore shows a good amount of use with smoothing and frost throughout. Holster is marked ‘CW N 4 39’ on the outer flap. Comes with cleaning rod and unmarked tool.
