1/20/20 – This is a rare RAD Enlisted Rank’s Hewer dagger. Overall an original piece in great condition. The original nickel-silver plating on all fittings are excellent, but there is some minor chipping / plating loss on the hand guard and base of the scabbard. The forged steel blade of this dagger also has some plating / finish loss, as shown in photos. This plating loss is evident on both sides of the blade. One side is maker stamped, and the other is inscribed in German. The RAD motto, “Arbeit Adelt”, (Labor ennobles) is etched in modified Old English script into the surface of obverse of the blade. The blade also has some very light surface scratches and scabbard run marks. About 3-4 very minor nicks in the edge as well from light use. The scabbard has minimal paint loss, and is missing 1 screw in the base. Priced accordingly. All original and authentic.
