7/15/24 – This is an immediate postwar production Hitler Youth Knife by Romo. There isn’t a lot of information about these daggers, but general consensus we found is that these were made immediately postwar by entrepreneurial Germans using old factory equipment. The blade, handle, and scabbard feels and looks of the same quality as wartime production blades. This example shows clean cross-graining throughout the blade, with some mild surface scratches and scabbard rub wear. The ricasso is maker stamped on one side, “ROMO Solingen-Germany”. This “Germany” portion of the maker marking indicates these were made with the intention of export. The base of the blade retains a leather stopper, and the hooked hand guard shows light surface patina. Excellent diamond pattern on each grip panel, with one panel having a Hitler Youth emblem (although this is not the same style as the WW2 Hitler Youth emblems). Mild patina on the pommel as well. Comes with a mint condition scabbard and leather frog, which is stamped “MADE IN GERMANY”.
