7/7/23 – This is a Mauser C96 “Red 9” pistol that was produced for the German military during WWI and subsequently reworked for the Weimar Police in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles. Blade front and notch rear sights, with a rough milled section in the area where the tangent sight would have been located. Numbers match throughout, including the original grips. 1920 property stamp on left side of receiver. Original finish throughout but some notable wear on the barrel and magazine housing, and some surface rust on the bottom of the frame. Grip frame is unit marked (S.G.I. 2.27). Bore is generally clean but shows some frost and the rifling is a little bit worn. Comes with a modified period original holster.
