SERE Kit
WW2
112822-1

11/28/22 – This is an unopened USAF Pilot SERE Kit, or emergency valuables kit. These were given to pilots during WW2 and the 1950s, and was a sealed container of valuables such as watches, rings, gold coins, and other valuable metals. These were to be opened and used as a bartering tool for pilots downed behind enemy lines and in need of emergency assistance. The theory being the pilot could trade the contents in the container for aid from locals. Many of these kits were sold by the US Government on auction after the war. Most were purchased and immediately opened by the public, who only found value in the contents within. Therefore there are very few unopened examples on the market today. This example has a serial number scratched on the exterior shell “1286”, and matches the serial number card on the interior of the box. We’ve provided x-ray photos of the internal contents, where clearly a few rings and coins are inside. A very cool piece of history.
