7/12/24 – This is an original Italian MVSN Officer’s Dagger. The dagger features an aluminum hilt with a serpent style eagle head pommel. The hilt has inlaid black celluloid handles with an Italian Fascist symbol on one side. The details on the symbol have been buffed out – leaving a smooth finish – we suspect this is the equivalent of “de-nazifying” a dagger, likely done intentionally by a previous owner. Despite this, the emblem is original as is the original holding screw found on the opposite grip panel. The crossguard correctly points upwards (opposite of most daggers), and the blade is in great overall condition. There’s light surface scratches, but visible cross-graining and a few very mild spots of patina. The blade also features a false edge that runs about 2/3rds of the length from the tip. Comes with an early M1932 style scabbard that’s painted in a black lacquered finish. Minimal patina, no dents, and fits the blade nicely.
