12/17/20 – This is an original 1939 dated K98 bayonet with a mismatching numbered scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet blade has most of the original bluing in tact and is in great condition. Maker stamped by Rich.A.Herder and serial numbered 3854F on the other side. The spine of the blade is 39 dated. The handle has some patina throughout the metal, and the spine of the metal handle has numerous small dents, see photos. The scabbard has most of the finish lost, and what remains is a brownish patina throughout. The scabbard is numbered 8467. The leather frog is in great condition with a faint maker stamp on the backside.
