3/31/22 – This is a nice example of a K98 bayonet, scabbard, and frog from WW2. The bayonet and scabbard are mismatched. The scabbard shows serial “945s”, and shows minor oxidation and scratchy wear throughout. The bayonet has retained a majority of its original finish, but shows wear concentrated around the blade tip. The edge of the blade appears to be in unsharpened condition and features serial number “2142”, maker mark “W.K.C.”, and dated “39”. The tip of the blade is blunted and bent, and rub wear as well as pinpricking. The bayonet handle shows minor oxidation throughout, but is Waffen proofed on the nut, pommel, and the spine of the hilt as is typical of similar examples. The included frog is not dated, but the leather is in good condition and the stitching appears to be original.
