11/7/22 – This is an original 1940 production K98 bayonet by WKC. The bayonet blade has some natural patina and aging throughout, as well as finish loss and some mild areas of surface scratching. The edge shows no signs of sharpening or misuse. The ricasso is maker stamped on one side and serial numbered on the other, with a “40” date on the spine. The hand guard and metal portion of the hilt area has dark patina and discoloration throughout, but no rust or pitting. The handle grips have a few indents and mild scuffs but no cracks or chips. The scabbard is mis-matching numbered but period correct with similar surface wear to that on the bayonet. No dents or major issues, only honest use wear and aging. Comes with a leather frog that appears to have a re-stitched or repaired tongue, but still looks period correct throughout.
