6/15/21 – This is a near-mint Colt 1911A1, manufactured in 1944. It is 100% correct and original with no changed or swapped parts. The finish on all parts is all original and not a re-arsenal and has not been re-parkerized. The pistol comes with the original Rock Island Armory shipping box (properly pencil numbered to the gun), with shipping label still intact, and the original U.S. Government requisition and invoice shipping documents (DD-1149-4) . This pistol is NOT one of the recent DCM released 1911’s, but a true government release. The date of the sale is noted as 3-20-61. There is no serial number noted on the shipping document, but the shipping label on the box and the shipping document both contain the same name, address, and city of sale and delivery. There is no doubt that the shipping document makes reference to this particular Colt 1911A1. To find a WW2 1944 manufactured Colt 1911A1 in this condition, along with the matching original shipping box and matching U.S. Government release papers is scarce and this example would be nearly impossible to upgrade. Proper inspectors marks with mint bore. Original Colt barrel. Magazine is ‘S’ marked.
