11/8/22 – This is a near-mint example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1943. The slide is numbered and matching, and the gun is properly “United States Property” marked, has the correct “GHD” military inspection proof, and has a military cross-cannon cartouche. It has an “S” marked Colt .45 Auto barrel, which can be correct for a 1943 gun in this serial range. The gun has retained nearly all of its original parkerized finish with a few light scuffs and scratches around the muzzle and on the left and top sides of the slide. Comes with nice period-correct reddish plastic grips – there is some verdigris and tiny dots of white paint in the checkering. Also comes with a period-correct “L” marked magazine. The rifling in the bore is decent, but there is minor pitting throughout.
