6/5/17 – This is a minty Colt M1911A1, with a similar minty holster and Colt factory letter. The original finish rates at 99%, with minor edge wear. This pistol has the matching number slide, which was discontinued a a month or two later. This pistol was shipped from Colt to Springfield’s Armory in June of 1943.This pistol is all correct and original, with features such as P proofs on the slide and frame, G.H.D. inspector’s mark, proper Colt barrel and correct grips. This is an early GHD inspected pistol with small GHD marking. ‘R’ marked magazine. Minty holster is dated 1942 and manufactured by Milwaukee Saddlery Co. The factory letter issued by Colt is included with this listing, and documents some of the history associated with this pistol. Bore has strong rifling but is slightly freckled near the muzzle.
