12/15/17 – This is an early first variation Nazi High Power, in minty original condition. This is the “holy grail” for Browning HP collectors. The finish is 99% in beautiful pre-war high polish blue. It has the Belgian proofs and then one Nazi Eagle 613 proof mark on the trigger guard. There is an example like this in the book on Brownings – serial #4533x. Correct early Tangent Site on top of the slide. According to the book on FN Browning Pistols (Anthony VanderLinden), these early Belgian HP’s were in the factory when the Germans invaded and took over in May of 1940. So this gun has acceptance proofs for both the Belgian and Nazi Armies. The serial falls within the known range for such pistols, 44500 – 52200. The original grips have the orange/red paint interior. The magazine has a phosphate tube and Eagle/613 proof on the spine. Overall a very rare High Power seized by the Nazi’s at the start of WW2.
