12/1/20 – This is an interesting Smith & Wesson Model 1917 revolver in excellent condition. The frame has the military ordnance bomb proof, and bottom of frame is marked ARMY MODEL 1917, but the barrel is not UNITED STATES PROPERTY marked. It does have matching numbers throughout though, including the barrel, so it’s not a replacement. The front sight is also not the standard half-moon example. The grips are also post-WWI, so best guess is this gun was left over at the end of the war and represents a transitional period. There’s an attachment to widen the trigger that appears fixed in place permanently. Beautiful case-hardening on the trigger and hammer. Mint bore. Barrel is 5.5 inches long.
