1/31/24 – Located at our Ohio office. Original and very nice “Police Pocket” model percussion revolver, made by the Metropolitan Arms Company of New York City. All matching serial numbers. During this period of time, the Colt factory was devastated by a fire and Metropolitan stepped in by bringing three models to market. Established in February 1864, the company mainly manufactured copies of Colt Model 1851 and 1861 Navy Revolvers, as well as copies of Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver. Roughly, 2,750 of the “1862 Police” pattern were manufactured. Approximately 1,600 of these revolvers are barrel marked with the Metropolitan Arms Co. name. Some of the production was completely unmarked. Other than the serial number, this example is un-marked. This original example retains about 75 to 80% of its finish. With solid lock up and timing, this revolver is completely functional. The bore has great rifling and rates a good 7 of 10. Shows honest use wear with great looking hardwood grips.
