3/15/23 – This is an original M1921 Mauser “Bolo”, manufactured in the late 1920’s. The Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, imposed restrictions on pistol barrel lengths and calibers on German arms manufacturers. Mauser began manufacturing a compliant version of the C96 for commercial sale with shorter, 3.9 inch barrel. This particular pistol is mostly matching, but some of the small parts are mismatched. Proper “Double Crown U” proofs. “Germany” export marking on the frame. It has lost almost all of its original finish with spotty brown patina and oxidation throughout. Some areas of minor pitting here and there, most noticeable at the top of the right grip panel. The grips are fairly worn. They are numbered “705815”. They are not technically matching, but this could easily be a factory error. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
