6/1/23 – This is an original M1921 Mauser “Bolo”, manufactured in the late 1920’s. The Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, imposed restrictions on pistol barrel lengths and calibers on German arms manufacturers. Mauser began manufacturing a compliant version of the C96 for commercial sale with shorter, 3.9 inch barrel. This one is mostly matching but has a mismatched cocking knob and floor plate. It comes as a rig with a leather harness, wood stock, and cleaning rod – all have matching numbers to the pistol. The leather harness is a reproduction. We believe the metal fittings on the wood stock are original, but the wood stock itself is a reproduction. The finish on the gun is completely restored. There is general high edge wear and some spots of discoloration on the right side of the frame. There is pin-pricking under the bluing throughout. Fitted with excellent un-numbered wood grips. The condition of the bore is poor – the rifling is almost entirely worn.
