12/5/23 – This is a M1921 Mauser “Bolo”, manufactured in the late 1920’s. The Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, imposed restrictions on pistol barrel lengths and calibers on German arms manufacturers. Mauser began manufacturing a compliant version of the C96 for commercial sale with shorter, 3.9 inch barrel. This one is matching and comes as a rig with a reproduction wood stock. The finish rates roughly 75%, and there is obvious brown patina throughout. Worn wood grips. The condition of the bore is poor – the rifling is completely worn with pitting throughout.
