8/18/22 – This is an original 1942 dated K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard, leather frog, and portepee. The portepee is excellent, and designated for SS NCO’s. The leather frog may have once had a maker stamp on the back leather, but we can’t decipher any markings. The scabbard shows surface patina throughout but no dents or notable flaws. The blade is serial numbered on one side, maker stamped and dated on the other. There’s some minor finish loss but no major issues. The handle has patina throughout but no rust or pitting. Overall an excellent example with a rare portepee.
