Paul Weyersberg
Bayonet
1940
021924-9-AB

9/12/24 – This is a good example of a K98 bayonet made by Paul Weyersberg in 1940. This bayonet is matching, both the bayonet and the scabbard are marked “5044”. The markings on the blade are crisp and still easily legible with the serial number on the right side, and “P. Weyersberg” on the left. The blade on this bayonet is in great condition maintaining almost all of it’s original finish, with some areas of finish loss on the high spots and the tip from standard scabbard use. The edge on this bayonet is original and has not been sharpened. The pommel on the bayonet appears to have been re-blued at some point, but it still maintains its waffen stamps. The pommel and scabbard are correctly waffen stamped with “WaA253.” The scabbard on this bayonet also appears to have been re-blued, there is light to moderate pitting throughout the scabbard. However, this pitting has not impacted the stability and function of the scabbard.
