8/17/23 – This is an original, late WW2 production K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet blade is in excellent, near mint condition with very nice blued finish throughout. There’s some mild scabbard rub wear and minimal finish loss near the tip of the blade. No signs of sharpening. One side of the blade is marked “44 fnj” and the other side is numbered “3621b”. The cross guard has light finish loss throughout, but no dark discoloration. The wood grips are mint. The metal spine of the handle and pommel have light patina and spots of freckling. The scabbard has some dark patina mostly near the toe on both sides. Overall excellent with no dents or major issues. The leather frog is in great condition with some mild wrinkling and scuffs in the leather. The top rounded area of leather has the largest concentration of wear. The back of the frog is “gfg 1943” maker and date marked.
