2/4/22 – This is an interesting piece of WW2 history. We have a Luftwaffe gravity knife that appears to have been passed down a few generations after initially being captured in France during 1944. We assume this due to the inscriptions on the handle, which on one sides reads, “Dad From Orra, France ’44”. So our guess is the Vet either bought, traded, or captured this as a souvenir for his father. The other side of the handle shows that later on, in 1985, this blade was gifted again in similar fashion. The other side has a similar style carving in the grip which reads “1985 Ken from Dad”. The blade has been fixed to the open position by a post-factory pin installed in the base. Further, the release lever is missing and broken. See photos. The spike still releases and returns without issue, and is Luftwaffe eagle stamped on the base.
