6/20/23 – This is an original WW2 Luftwaffe Gravity Knife by Paul Weyersberg. The knife is functional with smooth action and tight lockup. The blade shows signs of sharpening and honest use wear which is mostly light surface scratches. The maker stamp is faint and faded, yet still visible. The metal mouth of the blade and frame / release lever all shows mild surface patina and light scratches but no major issues. The release lever is matching numbered “53” on the lever and base, with the base having an added screw which appears to be a period ‘field repair’. The wood handle has 6 notches intentionally added to one side. The wood shows signs of handling throughout but no cracks or chips. The spike piece is Luftwaffe proof stamped, and the interior base of the handle / spike housing is numbered 822. A nice example with honest use wear (likely saw action).
