12/12/22 – This is an original WW2 production Luftwaffe Gravity Knife. The knife is in very good overall condition with some honest wear but is still fully functional and mechanically sound. The blade is maker stamped by SMF on one side, and has surface scratches throughout the blade. There’s some mild signs of sharpening along the edge as well. The blade is still clean overall. The blade needs a little push or jiggle to get it to retract into the handle when the lever is pulled, but otherwise is mechanically sound. This is due to some mild damage at the mouth of the pommel – see photos. The wood handle has a small chip at the base on one side, as well as a small crack, as shown in photos. The side lever is matching numbered, but we’re not sure if this matches internally. Attached to the lanyard loop is an aged lanyard, but we’re not sure of the origins.
