9/7/24 – This is an original Luftwaffe Fallschirmjager Badge by Wilhelm Deumer. The badge is two piece construction, type B with a thick wreath made of nickel-silver. The eagle is brass with a gold-gilded finish and maker stamped on the reverse, as shown. The obverse shows natural surface patina and typical high edge wear and a concentration of finish found near where the eagle’s head and wingtip meet the wreath. The diving eagle is held by two small rivets and is securely fastened to the wreath. There’s surface rub wear found on the eagle’s breast and rear wing, but visible fine detail overall and natural age throughout. The reverse is missing the straight pin, but the barrel hinge and hook are correct style for this manufacturer. Price reduced due to the missing pin. Still a fine example overall, with nice natural patina. Measures about 42.5mm wide and 53mm tall.
