3/7/24 – This is an original WW2 Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge (Fallschirmjager). The award is two piece construction made from wartime zinc metal (non-magnetic throughout). The oval silvered wreath has natural patina throughout and is missing most of the silver-washed finish. The central gold-gilded eagle is in good condition but has some minor play or wiggle on the wreath as the rivets have loosened slightly with age. This is a very slight “back-and forth” movement and the eagle is still secure and in place with both original rivets still intact. The eagle wings have some high edge wear along the top of the forward wing, but otherwise the finish is in great shape throughout the eagle. Excellent visible detail throughout. Maker stamped by Berg & Nolte on the backside of the eagle, as shown. An all original example, attractively priced to sell.
