12/22/22 – This is a very clean, late-war Winchester M1 Carbine from 1944. It has virtually all “W” marked parts with their original parkerized finish. Only the late mag release (unmarked) and the added bayonet lug are not marked Winchester. Even the late Type 4 flat-bottom M2 stock is “W” marked with correct ordnance wheel, as is the 4-rivet handguard. Possibly was intended for later-conversion military use as an M2, but we can’t say for sure. The added work was apparently done at Springfield armory, as there is an “SA” mark on the inside of the stock shoulder. Bore is mint, and action works fine.
