3/31/22 – This is a very nice example of an “SVW 45” Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military at the end of WW2, in 1945. All numbered parts are matching and the gun is assembled from a mixture of blued and phosphated parts – correct for this variation. The side panel on the bolt release has a really nice late-war reddish finish. The stock has no visible external numbering but does have a faint waffen proof around the wrist and has a very faint “* C” marking on the underside of the butt stock. There is an area of wear on the barrel just in front of the receiver. There is spotty wear and oxidation on the front sight. Some tiny dings on the barrel and front barrel band. Small spot of wear on the left side of the front barrel band. Splotchy discoloration on the phosphate floor plate and trigger assembly. Comes with period-correct leather sling (dried and lightly cracking leather) and a cleaning rod. Excellent shiny bore with strong rifling. There is some minor separation in the wood on the left side of the stock near the receiver and on the right side of the butt stock. One noticeable circular depression on the right side where the barrel meets the receiver.
