3/22/23 – This is an original pair of WW2 Kriegsmarine U-Boat binoculars. The binoculars come with an original bakelite lens cover, leather shoulder / carry strap, and a leather case that’s maker stamped by the same maker as the optics and 1943 dated. The leather case doesn’t have any shoulder straps attached, but instead there are two rear belt loops. The belt loops and leather “hinge” area of leather along with the attaching rivets appear to be replacement: this is mostly due to the excellent condition and different style compared to the rest of the lather and rivets on the case. Otherwise, this example is all original and authentic. The top of the case has a distinct and crisply-struck Kriegsmarine eagle/M logo. The straw colored stitching is excellent and the leather is clean with three interior lens caps found on the inside of the lid. The binoculars themselves are in excellent condition with minimal surface wear and aging. The adjustment and focus knobs are all smoothly operational and functional. The optics are crisp and clear with no notable issues. An overall great example of Kriegsmarine optics!
