8/22/24 – This is an example of a mismatched K98 Bayonet issued to the German military in WW2. Manufactured in Solingen, Germany by Berg & Co. and maker marked 41AGV above the hilt. The bayonet comes with a period correct scabbard as well as the bayonet frog. The blade on this piece retains some original finish but does have areas that appear to have been touched up, maintains original edge. Both bayonet and scabbard have the proper Waffen proofs. Blade does have minor surface damage and surface loss. Surface loss is consistent with the blade being scabbard wear. Scabbard’s original numbers have been scratched out and force matched to the the bayonet. Both the scabbard and the bayonet, with the exception of the blade, have surface oxidation throughout.
