3/24/22 – This is an excellent WW1-era DWM Luger with an interesting story. First off, the chamber in double-dated 1915 and 1920 – the government property marking. It also has German Imperial military proofs. This would indicate the gun was initially issued the German military in 1915 and was later reworked and remained in government service after WW1. This gun also has a Weimar-era Eagle proof on the left side of the barrel. Also has commercial “Crown N” proofs throughout, indicating it ended up in the commercial market at some point. There appears to be an extremely faint ground regiment marking on the front strap – can’t say if it’s military or police. Although it lacks a sear safety, it likely went to the police, as it has a matching arsenal-numbered magazine (crack in the mag bottom). The gun has retained more than 98% of its finish. While there is very little actual finish loss, there is freckling on the side plate, right side of the frame, and on the back strap. There also some pitting and oxidation along the edges of the frame on the straps. Comes with nice wood grips – the left panel is numbered and matching, the right panel is un-numbered. On the left panel, there is a small chip in the top corner and a few dark stains. The bore has good rifling with very minor pin-pricking throughout.
