10/24/18 – This is an Augusta Arsenal rebuilt condition, Inland-made M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine. The gun is a correct type 2 WW2 Paratrooper – M1A1 dated July of 1944, but was likely an immediate post war upgrade. There are the initials AAI on the stock (Augusta Arsenal) and the original ordnance cartouche is still present on the bottom of the pistol grip. Both the handguard and the inside of the stock are IO marked and the stock also has the flaming bomb proof. This is a factory original M1A1 carbine that was post war upgraded with the bayonet lug and adjustable site, probably in the immediate post war period at a US depot as there is a P proof on the front grip-strap. The magazine is a correct Inland marked AI. The bore is excellent and the rifle appears to have been seldom used after the rework . This is a great example of a type II paratrooper carbine in post war configuration. These rifles were in US service during Korea and some well into the Vietnam War era. If you are looking for an all correct example of an M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine for your collection and don’t mind the Korean war era upgrades then this one is an excellent choice.
