11/10/21 – This is a very nice example of a scarce double action revolver that was chosen by the Swedish army as an official sidearm. Manufactured by Husqvarna, the revolver has a 6 shot Nagant design chambered for the 7.65mm cartridge with a fluted cylinder. There were only 14,000 produced from 1897-1905. The barrel is half round and half octagon and it is fitted with checkered walnut grips with a lanyard ring on the butt. The back strap has a recessed checkered piece of walnut inset and the lower portion of the front strap. The left side of the cylinder ahead of the frame is marked “HUSQVARNA / PTB” and the right rear of the frame is marked “L No 1554 / A”. PTB were the inspectors initials, and the ‘L’ stands for “Landstormen” who were like a militia: ex-regular army soldiers over the age of 30 assigned to a Landstormen district and armed by the regular army regiment to which they were assigned. Serial likely dates this to 1899, so doesn’t quite qualify as an antique. The original blue is near-mint with just a single patch of bluing loss on the right side of the frame. Terrific bore and grips. Comes with holster, cleaning rod and lanyard.
