1/26/23 – This is an original Type 30 Japanese Rifle bayonet from WW2. The bayonet has earlier wartime features such as a hooked crossguard, blued fullered blade, and bird’s head pommel. The blade is in great overall condition with some mild surface patina and finish loss, mostly near the tip. Th blade is sharpened about 1/3 of the way down from the tip. The base of the blade is maker stamped by Hoten Arsenal. The crossguard and hilt area of the bayonet has dark surface patina and natural aging, but no rust or pitting. The wood grips have two screws with washers, as shown and some mild surface wear but no cracks or chips. The pommel is serial numbered within the 50th series serial number range, as mentioned in Labar’s book. Variation B, LB-167. Comes with a black painted ball-tipped metal scabbard. Great overall condition.
