6/5/18 – This is a mint 99% plus original condition Colt 1902 long slide military pistol, chambered in .38 with historic association to Lindbergh famous transatlantic flight. The gun is near new, with just the slightest barely visible wear on the high edges and a few speckles of wear on the grip straps. It appears that no more than a magazine was fired from it, as it looks as pristine inside as it is outside. Mint bore and grips. Colt factory letter verifies shipping date of 1926. Now for the interesting part: underneath one of the grips, inscribed with a stylo is: “Lindbergh flew from….” It appears that the original owner most likely purchased the gun on the day of the Lindbergh’s historic flight or shortly prior to it, and decided to commemorate the flight by adding the inscription under the grip, thus linking together two of the American greatest legends.
