11/30/23 – This is an awesome vet bringback set that comes to us directly from the son of the veteran who captured these pieces. This Arisaka Type 44 Cavalry Carbine and Japanese Officer’s sword were obtained by Pfc. Sylvester Yandoli when he was serving in the South Pacific. His son had us transcribe what he knew of the background for each piece, and an image of that signed letter is shown in the photos of this listing. The rifle is one of the finest Type 44 Carbines we have ever encountered, with full mum intact and virtually zero bluing loss to mention. Minty bore and excellent wood stock with only minor handling wear. All numbers on the rifle match except for the extractor on the bolt. Pfc. Yandoli separately captured a Japanese Officer’s sword with original WW2 fittings. The sword is generally in very good condition with scabbard present, and the blade shows minor handling wear and a few small patches of corrosion.
