10/19/23 – This is an original WW1 German Gew98 Sawback Butcher bayonet. The bayonet comes with an original scabbard and leather frog. The frog is maker stamped and 1915 dated on the back leather as shown. Great overall condition. The bayonet blade has speckling discoloration throughout, but this is light surface splotches and there are a few mild surface scratches as well. Signs of mild use and sharpening along the edge. The base of the blade is maker stamped as shown. Imperial proof stamped on the spine. The hand guard and pommel have dark discoloration and natural patina but no rust or pitting, and an original wood grip. The scabbard has a few dents in the metal but fits nicely. Brown patina throughout and honest wear.
