8/17/24 – This is a gold grade WW2 German wound badge. The badge is gold gilded zinc (completely non-magnetic) with a laurel leaf wreath bordering two crossed swords under a central Stahlhelm with mobile swastika on top. The swastika and high edges of the Stahlhelm show natural surface wear and patina. The ribbon at the base of the wreath, as well as a few high-points along the leaves also show natural patina. Excellent, crisp pebble-grained background and fine details throughout. The reverse is unmarked with a functional hinge and straight wire pin. The style of hardware and lack of marking is typical for Vienna Mint. Measures about 36mm wide and 44mm tall. A great example with natural, honest patina.
