8/1/24 – This is an original WW2 German Army Officer’s Dress Sword. The sword has gold gilded brass fittings with a dove head style pommel. Excellent, detailed floral and diamond pattern engravings throughout the knuckle bow and crossguard. The backstrap featuring a sunkist star pattern. Excellent finish throughout with typical high edge wear, leaving a shiny golden honey appearance overall. The hand guard has a Wehrmacht droop-winged eagle on one side, and a blank shield on the reverse. Excellent black celluloid grip and tight, all-original wire wrapping which features a twisted wire within two horizontal wires. Under the shield emblem on the reverse of the blade is a maker stamp by F.W. Holler. The nickel plated steel blade retains the original leather stopper and measures approx. 85.5cm long. The blade has some light scabbard rub wear and no visible oxidation. There is however some light surface scratches and very minor nicks along the edge near the tip, as shown. Overall this is a near-excellent blade in very well preserved condition. Comes with a black enamel painted scabbard that has mild patina and surface wear mostly near the tip and hanger ring. Attached to the scabbard is a leather hanger as shown.
