8/28/23 – This is an original, pre WW1 production French M1866 Sword Rifle bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard. Finding an old 1870 production bayonet like this with the original matching numbered scabbard is very rare. The bayonet blade is in good condition with some honest wear and surface patina throughout. There’s no signs of sharpening, and mild pitting mostly located near the tip of the blade. The cross guard has dark patina throughout, and the original brass handle is in great condition. The cross guard and scabbard are both serial numbered “83527”, as shown. The scabbard has light patina throughout as well but no major issues.
