6/19/24 – This is an original French M1866 Chassepot Sword Bayonet. The bayonet blade is maker marked on the spine by St. Etienne and 1872 dated. The curved blade measures about 575mm long, and the overall length is about 698mm. There’s some light surface patina and oxidation on the blade, but overall this example is in great shape with a clean edge. Properly proofed at the base of the blade and on the hooked quillion. The brass handle is in great shape. Comes with an original scabbard that fits nicely and has dark patina throughout. No dents or major issues.
