6/22/21 – This is a supremely rare K Date Mauser Luger that was issued to the Kriegsmarine. It’s one of the most rare and desirable Luger variations ever produced. There were only 300 ever produced, and with a low survival rate. This one has all matching numbers on metal parts. The magazine is a rare and correct example with 0/37 inspection proof but off by about 150 digits. The grips are marked with the gothic ‘S’ and numbered ’98’ – this could be a factory mistake given the pistol is ’89’, or it’s possible they were swapped long ago. The fit snugly and appear original to the pistol. The pistol has about 92-94% of the original bluing with standard high edge wear, some patina on the straps and minor pitting on the right side rail. Kriegsmarine Eagle/M proof on left side of frame with ‘O.1816’ property mark on grip strap. Just a few digits off from a recorded example in Still’s books. Beautiful straw remains on small parts. Overall an excellent example as most K Dates were treated harshly and heavily used.
