6/26/24 – This is an exceptional example of a US Army S&W Model 1917 revolver from WWI. It is “United States Property” marked and has “Eagle Head ” and flaming bomb military acceptance proofs. All matching. This particular gun also comes with a S&W factory letter, stating that this gun was shipped from the factory on June 4, 1918 and delivered to the United States Government National Armory in Springfield, MA. Fitted with period-correct wood grips – the right side is numbered and matching. There is a soldier’s GI number written on the inside of both grip panels and lightly scratched onto both sides of the frame under the grip straps. The bore has strong rifling with some light freckling here and there.
