11/6/23 – This is an excellent Winchester Model 62A manufactured in August of 1942, chambered for either .22LR .22SL, and featuring a 23″ barrel. Although produced in 1939 at the beginning of WW2, this rifle is identical to the pre-war models 62 and 62A. It therefore includes several desirable features not found in later variations such as checkered hammer, steel butt plate, and the wooden fore-end used for pumping has complete rings. The tubular magazine is capable of holding 15 rounds. The gun has retained about 98% of its original finish, and most of the wear is concentrated along the top of the barrel, with some very minor thinning, a couple dark spots, and one very small area of finish loss. A few light surface scratches and handling marks on the receiver, as well as some wear along the high edges. Near flawless wood furniture, with just minor handling marks and no major scratches, cracks or damage, and a mint bore. Very difficult to find these in this condition.
