7/23/19 – This is a Springfield Armory M1 Garand from 1944. The barrel is dated October of 1949, and the receiver serial dates to February of 1944. This gun is an interwar Springfield Armory rework, using a beautiful tiger-striped Birch wood stock. It also has an International Harvester (IHC) op rod. It has a flush nut rear sight. Overall, the gun is in very good condition. The metal parts are in good condition and have most of their finish. However, there are small spots of minor discoloration on the receiver, floor plate, and trigger housing throughout. There are very minor handling marks on the barrel and gas trap cylinder, near the muzzle. The tiger-striped wood stock is in excellent condition, just some very minor surface marks here and there. It has a very crisp “P” marking below the trigger group. The front hand guard is a little loose. The bore is excellent – shiny with very strong rifling. The gun is fully functional and the action is smooth.
