3/31/22 – This is an excellent Beretta M1935 with 4UT marking on frame and cool U.S. marked holster. Jan Still’s book on the axis pistols notes that a Beretta factory letter indicates the ‘4UT’ marking found on the frame of this pistol as having been a “German acceptance quality control” and being part of a lot that was delivered to the German Army headquarters in Italy. The pistol is matching and original with about 98% of the parkerized finish remaining. Minty bore and grips. Original magazine. The pistol comes with an interesting holster, as an original 1911A1 holster was modified to fit this Beretta. So either the Italian soldier that carried the pistol captured an American holster and modified it to fit their pistol, or an American soldier captured the pistol and modified their own holster to fit the gun. Haven’t seen one like it before though.
