8/8/24 – This is an excellent example of the iconic WWI US M1917 Trench Knife. The knife comes complete with an original scabbard. The 3-sided blade has retained most of its original finish, with minor thinning and surface scratches here and there. A couple very tiny imperfections in the blade, but otherwise the edges are fantastic for a WWI example. The hand guard has finish loss and patina throughout, but is in otherwise excellent condition. Excellent wood handle with no cracks or chips, just some handling marks and small dings here and there. The scabbard is in great overall shape, but the body shows surface level age-related leather degradation, and some patina is present on the metal tips. Maker marked “JEWELL 1918” on the scabbard leather. A high-end example.
