10/30/23 – This is an excellent condition Mauser Model 1871/84 made in 1888 at the Spandau Arsenal. These rifles were upgraded utilizing a Kropatchek style tube magazine and lifted to the single shot Mauser 1871. The rifle retains about 90% of its original finish with no major blemishes. The rifle retains much of its bluing on the metal with a fine layer of patina over it. The receiver is in the white with some prickling of pitting here and there. The rifle matches on the barrel, receiver, all 3 barrel bands, the magazine tube cap, trigger guard, trigger guard retention screw, rear sight ladder, slider and slider lever, and single shot lever mechanism. The bolt matches itself but not to the receiver, and the buttplate matches itself with the buttplate retention screw, rear sling screw, and magazine tube but does not match the other serial numbers on this rifle. The stock has been lightly sanded but the proof stamps are still strong. The action locks up nicely and the trigger is crisp for its age. The bore is bright with sharp rifling but has some corrosion visible towards the muzzle.
