3/3/23 – This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1943. It is “United States Property” marked, has the proper cross-canon military cartouche on the right side of the frame, and has the proper “GHD” inspector initials. Both the slide and frame are correct for this year and have their original finishes, but they are just slightly different colors. So they may have been mated – we can’t say for sure. Proper “Colt 45 Auto” barrel. The gun has retained about 96% of its finish with very minor wear around the high edges. Some minor thinning on the front strap and grip safety. There are a few very light scratches on the front strap and on the left side of the frame. Light brown patina all over the slide. Fitted with very nice period-correct reddish plastic grips and comes with one magazine. Mint bore.
